We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Plant Operator / Labourer to join our team. As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating plant to perform excavation services. You will work on a variety of projects, including utility maintenance, pipeline construction, and civil engineering tasks. The role requires someone with a strong understanding of equipment operation, safety procedures, and a dedication to delivering quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate and maintain equipment to perform excavation and potholing tasks.
Transport the unit to and from job sites, ensuring safe loading and unloading of equipment.
Complete site preparation, including identifying utility lines and performing safety checks before excavation begins.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the truck and equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including fuel usage, hours worked, and job site specifics.
Adhere to all safety guidelines, regulations, and company policies to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to ensure project specifications are met.
Manage hoses, attachments, and controls to ensure precise excavation and the safe removal of debris.
Assist in other field tasks as needed, including traffic control, digging, or general labor.

Qualifications:

Valid HR driver’s license (Class 3 or higher )
Previous experience as a Plant Operator or in a similar role
Strong knowledge of plant & equipment and safe operating procedures.
Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in various weather and site conditions.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Physically capable of performing the duties required, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hydraulic and/or mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment.

First Aid and CPR certification.
