THE ROLE:
This is a full-time role for a Tax Accountant with ideally at least 2 years’ experience in a public accounting practice in Australia. The successful candidate will be mentored by the Director and Senior Accountant in developing high quality taxation and business advisory knowledge. You will be working with a small and collaborative Business Advisory team and we're looking for someone with personality (it's a vibrant team), excellent communication skills and who is passionate about developing and growing their career. We offer excellent mentoring, quality training, flexibility and a fun working atmosphere.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing financial statements, tax returns and activity statements for all types of entities
Liaising with the ATO and other government organisations on behalf of clients
Fostering and contributing to a client-focused team and supportive workplace culture
Attending and participating in training sessions
Running client meetings withr small business and personal tax clients
Assisting the Director and Senior Accountant with tax planning, research, and advice
Networking to strengthen the brand to build and maintain client relationships
Keeping updated with changes to accounting standards, tax laws and other regulatory requirements
Managing your own projects and delivering on deadlines
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
· A degree (or in progress) in Commerce or Business with accounting or similar major
· At least 2 years’ experience in an accounting practice in Australia
· Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia residing in Geraldton
· Excellent written and verbal English skills enabling quality regular communication with clients (e-mail, reports and discussions) and the ability to build client rapport
· The ability to work independently, manage workflow and meet deadlines
· Professional and approachable presentation and phone manner
· High IT literacy and experience working with cloud accounting software (our firm works with clients using Xero, MYOB, Reckon and QuickBooks)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
· At least 4 years’ experience in an accounting practice in Australia
· A degree in Commerce or Business with accounting or similar major
· Has commenced or is keen to commence their CPA qualification
