Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
A commitment to providing our customers with quality water and wastewater services requires an expansion of our maintenance activities, therefore we are seeking a mechanical maintenance officer to join our operational team to help keep the water flowing.
In this role you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our water and wastewater infrastructure. Your other key focus areas will be the general mechanical equipment maintenance of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, water pressure booster stations and sewage pump stations.
Mechanical trade qualifications and relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, gives you the confidence to hit the ground running in your new role based in Shepparton.
We motivate and train our water industry operatives to have a safety focussed mindset, and to be able to work according to operating procedures and established guidelines and have a collaborative approach to teamwork.

About your new role...
You will be part of a small team, in a great outdoor location, assisting with looking after the Corporations critical mechanical assets.
Primarily you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance on GVW's mechanical equipment including but not limited to valves, pumps and other rotary equipment. This is where you will play an important role, enabling long term condition management of the Corporation's assets.
Aside from the physical nature of the role, there will be a requirement to complete administrative functions on paper and computer-based programs including recording maintenance activities in the asset management system.
This position will appeal to those with experience looking after diesel gensets, pumps, compressors and blowers.
The position is based at the Shepparton Operations Centre where you will enjoy being part of a working environment amongst technical and operational staff with the bonus of hassle-free parking!
About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:
- Certificate 3 or above in a Mechanical Trade (preferable Diesel Mechanic or Fitter)
- Strong OHS commitment and focus
- Physically capable of undertaking tasks in relation to pumps and pump maintenance
- Strong fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively, or learn quickly, with computer-based technology
- Flexibility to respond to emergency work and be part of an on-call roster when required
- Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements
- Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and self-management skills

- Classification GVW3: $75,536 - $92,155 + superannuation (starting salary point is negotiable dependent upon relevant, qualifications, skills, and experience demonstrated)
