Our global financial services client is seeking a new Legal Counsel based in Sydney. With operations in over 50 countries, the Capital Markets team combine local market knowledge with global expertise to deliver tailored capital markets solutions to a range of clients.

Due to substantial growth recently, our client is seeking an astute corporate M&A, commercial, funds or banking & finance lawyer with either global and national law firm training (required). Day to day responsibilities include:

1. Reviewing, amending and negotiating client contracts;
2. Drafting and negotiating on indemnities, limitations of liability, and termination rights;
3. Advising on privacy issues, complaints (with the National Complaints Manager) and regulatory matters;
4. Supporting on tech contracts, improving contract templates and building better processes; and
5. Legal input into internal restructures, asset sales, and company movements.

The role reports to an impressive Director of Legal and sits within a global legal team of approx. 20 that supports the Australian and UK divisions. The successful candidate will be approximately 4-6 years’ PQE with strong law firm training. You will also have an interest in financial services, markets and regulation and be curious about ASIC compliance.
