About the role

As a senior engineer at The Code Company you have the unique opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and rewarding enterprise WordPress projects in APAC, bringing your unique skills & experience into a team where your input is valued and your effort creates real impact.

While focus areas for senior engineers may differ, the core accountabilities for all senior roles require that you:

Demonstrate a high level of understanding of TCC coding standards and best practices, allowing them to advocate for their use and assist with adoption among junior staff members.

Are capable of estimating large/complex tasks with accuracy, identifying potential risks ahead of time and maintaining open/honest communication with clients and peers.

Are trusted by peers and project managers for their problems solving skills, consistency and ability to work independently across projects of various size/complexity.

Contribute knowledge back to their team in the form of documentation, process and/or mentorship.

About you

As a full-stack senior engineer your WordPress/PHP/JS experience will be of expert level and you will have recent experience working on large scale, enterprise level WordPress projects at similar agencies.

As this role leans towards React you will also need to have proven experience with native block development at scale, including a thorough understanding of @wordpress packages, build processes and hybrid theme development.

You should be well accustomed to working within senior/lead roles remotely, taking ownership of the projects you are assigned to and communicating effectively with both fellow team members and clients as a senior member of the project delivery team.

Required Skills:

Expert level experience (7+ years) with general WordPress development with at least 3 of those being within an enterprise environment.

Expert level PHP/JS experience (7+ years), thorough understanding of PSR standards, object oriented programming, ES6-ES2022 JS, testing and design patterns.

Advanced React and Tailwind experience (3-5 years) with at least 2 of those specifically involving custom block development and integrating external REST and GraphQL APIs into React components.

Experience debugging complex codebases with xdebug, DevTools etc.

Proficiency with git, CLI, front-end tooling, particularly webpack and wp-scripts, and integrating them into WordPress Theme development.

Comfortable working with local development environments such as DDev, Lando or other docker-based local environments.

Experience with modern frontend best practices and performance debugging focussed on Core Web Vitals and accessibility.

Experience working within an agile environment.

Excellent verbal and written English communication.

Experience with large scale project estimation and acting in a senior role within the delivery team for these projects.

Nice-to-haves:

Exposure to BrightCove, Mulesoft, ElasticSearch and AWS

Experience with Laravel or other MVC-based frameworks

Experience with the WordPress Interactivity API.

Involvement in the WordPress/open source community

Experience using Atlassian suite including Jira, Confluence, BitBucket etc.

Experience with projects hosted on WordPress VIP.
