About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.
As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities.
It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.
About the Team
The Provider and Worker Risk is a newly created section under the Commission’s Regulatory Operating Model that brings together three teams within the Assessment and Early Remediation Group: Code of Conduct; Prudential Supervision; and Provider Change and Governance. The Code of Conduct Team focus on workers’ behaviour and whether it aligns with the Aged Care Code of Conduct (the Code) and the required behaviours of workers.
About the Role
In responding to risks, Senior Investigators – Code of Conduct undertake more complex case management and investigation. This may involve conducting provider and worker enquiries including discussing the matter with workers and preparing well-written reports and decisions. At times, we take low level regulatory action such as drafting Reminder of Responsibilities or Caution Letter(s). Where relevant, Senior Investigators – Code of Conduct escalate more serious information to other Commission business units for investigation, compliance, and enforcement action.
Position Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing, analysing, and interrogating intelligence and information from a range of sources to identify repeat patterns or trends relating to worker conduct or provider compliance with the Code.
- Undertaking risk assessments and making recommendations to the delegate on actions required in response to the level of risk.
- Conducting further enquiries with the provider and/or worker as required.
- Assisting in the preparation of possible Code matters for case coordination/panel discussion and provide input at panel/case coordination discussions where appropriate.
- Preparing detailed reports, recommendations, and correspondence, including Reminder of Responsibilities or Caution Letters, and where appropriate provide Code related advice and subject matter expertise (SME), both internal and external.
- Working with Commission business units to analyse data and intelligence to identify sector trends in relation to the Code and identify opportunities for sector education or external communications on areas of practice or issues relating to regulation of the Code.
- Engaging with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities (such as the NDIS Commission, AHPRA) to facilitate information sharing (including exchanging information around outcomes / enforcement action as appropriate), within the parameters of any MOUs and legislation.
- Developing support materials such as work instructions, task cards, FAQs, and any other support material; and contribute to lessons learnt, knowledge, and skills development, as required.
