Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The National Disability and Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking candidates to fill APS5 Strategy Officer vacancies.
The APS5 Strategy Officer is a team membership position and is accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to an area of responsibility. The position will be required to provide strategic advice within an area of specialisation with advice based on policies and legislation.
The position will be required to provide detailed technical and operational support and advice. It will be required to perform procedural, clerical, administrative and operational tasks that supports and contributes to NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.

Duties include but not limited to:
- Gathering and developing structured insights and recommendations to understand complex problems.
- Drafting components of materials for internal and external stakeholders to communicate perspectives, recommendations, and implications for the Agency.
- Presenting recommendations and facilitating discussions with a range of Agency stakeholders and leadership.
- Assisting and supporting regular strategy reporting including status updates and exception reports.
- Supporting the development and management of project plans and schedules in accordance with the Agency’s project management framework and ways of working.

What we are looking for in our ideal candidate:
- Ability to gather, analyse, and develop structured insights and recommendations to address complex problems.
- Proficient in drafting materials for internal and external key stakeholders, clearly communicating perspectives, recommendations, and implications for the Agency.
- Capable of presenting recommendations and facilitating discussions with a variety of stakeholders including senior executives.
- Able to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries with sound decision-making and strategic advice based on policies and legislation.
- Experience supporting the development and management of project plans, schedules, and reporting in line with established project management frameworks.
- Comfortable interacting with internal and external stakeholders and managing relationships.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- The ability to work effectively in a team, actively contributing ideas, supporting colleagues to ensure collective goals are achieved.

While this role is ideally performed from Surry Hills NSW, Adelaide SA, Geelong and Richmond VIC, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
