Senior Psychologist, AH4, ongoing part time (0.4, 2 days per week) based in Greensborough.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the delivery and quality of student wellbeing support services.
  • Co-ordinate the management of student support services within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the delivery of student support services within schools.
  • Lead, professionally and operationally, a student support services team.
  • Provide professional leadership that supports the work of others and their professional development.
  • Develop programs that support schools, teachers and students that improve learning, particularly in respect to students with additional needs.
  • Provide authoritative professional advice to management, school leaders and team members.
  • Advise and direct team members in respect to complex cases.
  • Assess needs and implement professional development for team members
  • Liaises with community service organisations, DHHS, hospitals, specialist programs and other professionals regarding the support needs for students.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Extensive experience in the initiation, development and implementation of wellbeing support programs that foster resilience in children and young people and address their social, emotional and educational needs
  2. Capacity to provide leadership to professional team members
  3. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence others involved in the wellbeing of children and young people
  4. Highly developed capacity to assess, conceptualise and analyse more complex student wellbeing issues that translate to improving student support services
  5. Demonstrated commitment to the Victorian Public Sector Values as detailed in Organisational Values section above

SSS is looking for a senior psychologist, AH4 ongoing part time, 0.4 (2 days per week) based in Greensborough.

The purpose of the SSS team is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning, and achieve their educational and developmental potential. We do this through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised support at the individual, group, school and team level within a Department Area. SSS staff work collaboratively with schools, students and parents to facilitate improved emotional health and wellbeing for students.

As a SSS Psychologist, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary Area-based team to build the capabilities of schools to support children and young people to engage in their education. The multidisciplinary Area-based teams consist of a broad range of allied health professionals including psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers and visiting teachers.

SSS Psychologists provide comprehensive services to schools and school aged students, to enhance developmental and learning outcomes and support student health and wellbeing. This can encompass a broad range of areas including: learning issues, cognitive issues, behavioral issues, disabilities, mental health, school and work transitions, self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, anger management, relationships, conflict, sexuality and drug/alcohol involvement.

What key qualities are we looking for?

Expert advice: You will be required to provide advice that will influence the development of teaching and learning strategies and student wellbeing programs for school leadership teams to embed in their practices.

Communication: We are looking for highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills as liaison with a range of people in the education community and beyond is a regular activity.

Leadership: You will be required to provide leadership to the SSS team, by managing service delivery within a multidisciplinary Area-based team and contributing to professional supervision and direction to other members of the team.

Flexibility: The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and the capability to work autonomously when required are key qualities we are looking for.

Expert interventions and collaboration: You will have the ability to undertake advanced interventions that support students and schools, work collaboratively with other professionals on complex cases, including supporting teachers in the development of educational programs to improve student learning, particularly for students with additional needs.

Required:A graduate or post-graduate qualification in psychology, and full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
