Youth Worker – Join an Energetic Team Supporting Young People with Complex Needs
The Role
We are looking for dedicated and experienced Youth Workers to join our vibrant team! If you are passionate about supporting young people, building meaningful relationships, and making a positive difference, we want to hear from you.
You will play an important role in providing high-quality care to a young person with complex needs, and you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside a supportive team of professionals.
This specific Young Person loves Pokémon, games/gaming, Soccer and Basketball, Arts and Crafts, and the TV show Home and Away.
The Children and Young People we work with may exhibit pain-based behaviours such as but not limited to:
Suicidal Ideation/Self-Harm,
Property Damage,
Verbal/Physical Aggression,
Spitting/Biting,
Sexualised Behaviour,
Withdrawal,
Absconding,
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively within a team to deliver outstanding care and support to young people in a hospital and residential care setting.
Provide direct service support to individuals in the program, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of a safe, secure, and structured environment that supports the young person’s personal and developmental growth.
Demonstrate an understanding of trauma and its impact on behaviour, implementing appropriate interventions based on therapeutic practices.
Support the development of living skills and educational programs tailored to the young person’s individual needs.
Actively contribute to case management functions and tasks in accordance with the young person’s care plan.
Encourage the development of social and recreational skills to foster positive life experiences.
Liaise with external agencies, including schools, Department of Human Services, Department for Child Protection, Centrelink, and other relevant organisations, as needed.
Ensure all administrative duties, including documentation and reporting requirements, are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Participate in general household tasks such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, and maintenance.
Perform other duties as required, supporting the overall goals of the team.
Shifts
We have a variety of casual and permanent part time positions available.
We are seeking Youth Workers with the ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster inclusive of passive overnights.
Shifts include but are not limited too;
0700-1500, 1445-2300 & 1500-0700 (2300-0700 Passive)
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
Working With Children Clearance
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive fleet vehicle
Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
Suitable Psychological Assessment or willingness to undergo an assessment at CLO’s cost.
Enrolled in or holding Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Work, or equivalent
Previous experience working with individuals with complex behaviours, including those impacted by trauma
Proven ability to implement individualised developmental and behavioural programs
High levels of resiliency and enthusiasm
Experience in implementing positive behaviour support strategies
A flexible and adaptable approach to work
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young people
Experience working within different support models is preferred
