  • Temporary (Up to Date 30 June 2028) full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity
  • Location negotiable (within defined regional NSW locations)
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $168,079 to $186,401 + super

The Planning, Offsets, Threatened Species and Ecosystems Division is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager to lead the ongoing development and delivery of the Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement program. This new role is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational coordination and management of the biodiversity stewardship agreement program across NSW.

The program is in a growth phase with a strong demand from landholders interested in establishing a Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement on their property and new opportunities to improve program delivery through better systems and products. Reporting to the branch Director, the Senior Manager will lead the program operations through development and ongoing improvement of operational policies, guidance, systems and technical support.

About You

To be the successful applicant you will have:

  • Extensive experience in delivery of conservation and/or land management programs
  • Be a collaborative leader with a passion for problem solving and the continual improvement of systems, policies and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a regulatory environment and apply sound governance arrangements across the program
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or leading a multidisciplinary team/s
  • A strong background and experience in the interpretation of legislation and implementing statutory functions related to land or property management, conservation planning or biodiversity assessment.
  • An ability to build networks and foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups and regional landholders, while maintaining high level awareness of customer needs, program targets and best practice environmental outcomes

Essential requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in development or management conservation/environmental programs.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) & BCT’s Private Land Conservation (PLC) Programs

All new employees with an existing defined interest in the BOS will be required to disclose their personal (or a close family member’s) participation to ensure potential conflicts are managed appropriately. In some circumstances this may require divestment of the interest.

The BCT also has restrictions on staff participation in its funded PLC programs. No additional funding, beyond that already agreed to by the BCT, may be sought or approved during time as a BCT employee or for a 12-month period following termination of employment.
