Role: The Mechanical Tradesperson will play a vital role in supporting the successful execution of the Shell turnaround project by performing specialized tasks such as nitrogen operations, cold cutting, flange management, and general mechanical fitting. This role requires a strong technical skill set, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety protocol.

Responsibilities:

Nitrogen Operations : Set up, operate, and maintain nitrogen equipment for purging, pressure testing, and drying processes. Monitor and document nitrogen operations, ensuring safe and efficient execution in line with project requirements.

Cold Cutting and Flange Management: Operate cold cutting and machining equipment to perform precise cuts on pipelines and other components. Perform flange management tasks, including bolting, tensioning, and torqueing, ensuring leak-free and compliant connections.

Mechanical Fitting and Maintenance: Conduct mechanical installation, maintenance, and repairs on equipment and pipelines as required. Inspect and maintain mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance during and after the turnaround.

Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with hazardous area standards.
• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety audits to maintain a safe working environment.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including job progress, test results, and equipment usage.
• Provide detailed daily reports on completed and planned tasks.

Requirements:

Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter and Turner or equivalent).

Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification.

Flange Management Certification

Working at Heights (WAH) certification.

Gas Test Atmosphere certification.

High Risk Work License (EWP) for elevated work platforms over 11 meters (if required).

Proven experience in nitrogen operations, cold cutting, and flange management.

Previous experience working in turnaround or shutdown environments, particularly within oil and gas projects.

Familiarity with precision machining and mechanical fitting tasks
