Salary: $112,396.09- $116038.01, per annum (Pro rata)

About the Role:

  • Australia's first short-stay Drug and Alcohol Ward, co-located within the Emergency Department at St Vincent's Hospital.
  • Provide high-quality social work services, including clinical assessments, advocacy, referrals, counseling, and crisis intervention.
  • Ensure patient-centred care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies for efficient discharge planning and patient flow.
  • Contribute to high-level clinical expertise, lead educational initiatives for staff and patients, and foster continuous professional development.
  • Lead, initiate, and participate in research and quality improvement projects.
  • Supervise staff and students, ensuring excellence in clinical practice through evidence-based training.
  • Participate in the on-call social work crisis roster, ensuring timely and responsive care in emergencies.

About You:

  • Alignment with Mission and Values: Demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission, and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
  • Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Social Work, AASW membership, and extensive clinical experience in a hospital or health-related field.
  • Specialised Expertise: Skilled in drug and alcohol, mental health, domestic violence, child protection, trauma, homelessness, and crisis intervention.
  • Crisis and Complex Care Competencies: Expertise in crisis intervention, solution-focused approaches, motivational interviewing, and complex assessment in an acute health setting.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to contribute to research, education, and quality improvement, and provide clinical supervision, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
