Join a leading healthcare team at Macquarie University Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Paediatrics. In this pivotal role, you'll provide expert nursing care and clinical leadership within our paediatric department. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you'll bring advanced clinical knowledge, offer expert guidance, and play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to paediatric patients.

We're looking for a highly skilled and compassionate nurse with a strong background in paediatric nursing, committed to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, patient advocacy, and staff education. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to paediatric patients across inpatient, outpatient, and day surgery settings.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and support in managing complex and high-acuity paediatric cases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred care.
  • Educate, mentor, and support nursing staff through training sessions and professional development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, protocols, and quality improvement activities.
  • Support operational management, including staffing, workflow planning, and resource allocation.
  • Advocate for children and families, providing compassionate support and clear communication throughout care.
  • Promote evidence-based practice through active participation in research and integration of current clinical knowledge.

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1-2 page cover letter:

  • Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Paediatric Nursing or Clinical Nursing (or working towards).
  • Extensive experience in paediatric nursing, with a demonstrated capacity for advanced clinical practice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and educate staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Clinical Nurse Specialist or senior nursing role within a paediatric setting.
  • Experience in research or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of paediatric pain management and acute care settings.
