Primary Objective:
The role of the Director of Boarding is to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Boarding Program. The Director of Boarding works as a member of the Strategic Leadership Team to work towards the Vision and strategic goals of the College and System (CENT). Please note, the role includes after hours on call support of critical incidents within the Boarding Program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Actively support and contribute to the Catholic ethos, identity, mission and values of the College.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership in the area of Child Safety and Safeguarding.
• Lead and manage the strategic direction and operations of the Boarding Program, Health Centre and Community Engagement that meets the academic, social and emotional, health and wellbeing, family and cultural needs of students.
• Lead, manage and develop the following teams: Boarding Staff, Health Centre Staff and School Officer: Travel, Engagement, Enrolments and Library (TEEL).
• Research, draft and implement relevant polices in line with best practice in Boarding, Health and Wellbeing and Community Engagement and other areas that support engagement, retention and achievement of educational outcomes.
• Contribute as part of a team that sources grant funding to support College operations.
• Review, develop and implement structures and processes in accordance with the Boarding Standards and College, System and Jurisdiction legislation and polices.
• Monitor and manage facilities and programs that contribute to the provision of a holistic home away from home environment, including but not limited to: WHS, catering, cleaning, resources, health and wellbeing, and cultural and pastoral needs.
• Develop, implement and review operational guidelines and handbooks to support the College and staff meeting professional responsibilities and the Boarding Standards.
• Implement a professional learning program to support the staff in their professional responsibilities that are aligned with the principles of: respect, fairness, restorative practices, trauma informed care and cultural competence.
• Implement structures and processes to ensure appropriate recording of: student rolls, day to day events, incidents of concern, sign-ins / sign-outs, health needs (including medication), and other compliance recording.
• Implement structures and process to manage medication and health care support during school hours and after hours.
• Represent the College and Principal as required.
• Maintain a high level of communication with Boarding families to communicate and receive important information and feedback.
• Attend and actively participate in regular meetings, including the Strategic Leadership Team.
• Any other duties as directed by the Principal.
Selection Criteria:
• Maintain a current Northern Territory Working with Children Check (Ochre Card).
• A demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission.
• University qualification within a relevant field of study, such as: Education, Psychology, Social Work, Health Care and Management.
• Experience in leading and/or managing a secondary school boarding program.
• High level interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate appropriately, effectively and professionally with a range of stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds.
• Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to work in accordance with college, system and jurisdiction policy, processes and legislation.
WHS Responsibilities:
• Perform work at all times in a safe manner and comply with all workplace safety standards, policies and procedures.
• Take reasonable care to ensure their own safety and not place others at risk by any act or omission.
• Actively engage in the consultation process and taking part in WHS risk management programs to improve safety.

Catholic Education Northern Territory requires all of its employees to abide by its policies on safeguarding and promoting the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people and vulnerable adults. This position is for child-related work and as such, you must obtain and retain a Working with Children Check from Screening Assessment for Employment – Northern Territory (SAFE NT).
