Provide specialist property services including land acquisition, management, and asset disposal

Manage the state's planning, building, and heritage systems to shape places and communities

Job description:

About the Role

Fixed Term - 18 months

We're seeking a Specialist Licensed Surveyor to deliver high-level technical advice and services in surveying and road declaration. Reporting to the Manager Survey Operations, you'll collaborate closely with both internal experts and government stakeholders to provide best-practice surveying and land information services.

Key responsibilities include:

Reviewing and processing internal and external survey work

Providing expert technical advice and maintaining departmental standards and guidelines

Driving modernisation and innovation in survey services, including process and system improvements

Ensuring safe work practices and adherence to quality standards

This is a pivotal role supporting transformation and innovation in the way land and road declaration information is managed across the transport portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

Stakeholder Advice: Provide high-quality advice on complex survey and road declaration issues, and support team members in doing the same.

Change Management: Lead the evolution of survey service delivery and land information management, identifying opportunities for business improvement.

Capability Development: Share knowledge, provide coaching, and create learning opportunities to develop others' skills.

Quality Assurance: Oversee internal and external survey work, ensuring compliance with established procedures and recognised standards.

Key Selection Criteria

We're looking for a critical thinker who brings technical excellence, innovation, and leadership.

You'll also have:

Proven ability to solve complex issues and implement practical, measurable solutions

Strong digital literacy and the ability to leverage technology for service improvement

Strategic and operational insight, including vendor management and cost control

Customer-first mindset with a focus on continuous service enhancement

Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills

Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across departments and sectors

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

Degree in Surveying or Geomatics (or equivalent) as approved by the Surveyors Registration Board of Victoria

Registration as a Practising Licensed Surveyor in Victoria

Minimum 7 years' experience in the surveying industry

Demonstrated experience providing specialist technical advice at a senior level

Desirable

Experience supervising Professional Training Agreement (PTA) candidates

Experience working in government or the transport infrastructure sector

Role Requirements

A valid driver's license

Ability to travel and stay overnight in regional or metropolitan Victoria as required

Willingness to undertake manual handling tasks and sedentary desk work
