Salary $74,929 per annum (pro rata) + superannuation.
Annual salary increase every year based on CPI.
Salary packaging (up to $15,899 a year, + meal/entertainment benefit of $2,650 a year).
5 weeks annual leave per year + additional leave to cover the Christmas shut down period + 17.5% leave loading.
10 days Noongar Cultural Leave per annum.

The role
This position will be accountable for the delivery of on-ground activities including, but not limited to:
Fire management
Weed and pest management
Cultural site protection, restoration and/or management
Supporting Aboriginal community projects
Park infrastructure development and maintenance
Location
The position is based in Kojonup, with regular travel across the Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar region
Hours
Part time, 30 hours per week
About us
WKSN AC represents the Noongar people of the WKSN region and is responsible for the implementation of the Southwest Native Title Settlement. The WKSN region includes the towns of Boyup Brook, Kojonup, Gnowangerup, Walpole, Denmark, Mt Barker, Cranbrook, Tambellup, Katanning, Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun, Bremer Bay and Albany.
One of the cornerstones of the Settlement is the establishment of the Noongar Land Estate (NLE). The NLE comprises 320,000 hectares of land allocated as reserve or freehold tenure for cultural or economic development purposes. The WKSN AC will hold and manage a significant amount of NLE Cultural land that is intended to provide significant opportunities for the Noongar community to achieve sustainable economic, social, and cultural outcomes.
WKSN AC has secured funding to establish a WKSN AC Land Management Team (Ranger Team) that will undertake land management and cultural and environmental protection of the WKSN NLE.
Key responsibilities:
Performing general estate development and maintenance duties such as construction and maintenance of walking tracks, fencing and maintenance of recreational facilities on protected areas.
Performing estate protection duties such as assisting in fire management, feral animal and weed control programs.
Performing general maintenance duties such as maintaining machinery and equipment, mowing and maintaining park facilities.
Undertaking natural resource management duties such as revegetation and rehabilitation of areas of significance and monitoring of species, habitats and ecological communities.
Assist Traditional Custodians and Aboriginal communities in the recording of traditional and ecological knowledge.
Compliance with all Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and legislation
Selection Criteria:
Essentials
Ability or willingness to operate a variety of tools, plant and mechanical equipment (i.e. chainsaw, brush cutter, whipper snipper, drill etc)
An interest in the maintenance and development of natural reserves.
Be physically fit and mobile to complete on-ground works.
The ability to work as part of a team with limited supervision.
The ability to communicate well with team members, supervisors, Elders, members of the public and Parks staff.
Ability to take direction from someone who may be younger and a different gender, within a culturally safe environment
Desirable
A ‘working with children’ Blue Card, or ability to obtain a ‘working with children’ Blue Card
