About the role and team

We are seeking a hands-on Stores Person to join our Administration Team of seven, reporting to our Prisoner Services Coordinator (Tania). You'll be based in both the prison and administration office, and shifts may include canteen duty (in the prison - Mondays or Tuesdays), special buys (inside the prison - every second Thursday), and Mount Gambier town runs to pick up supplies and do banking (typically Fridays).We are seeking someone who is keen to do a variety of admin tasks and is interested in gaining experience in a unique and secure correctional environment.

In this role you will assist in the following areas:

Prison Canteen: Supervise prisoners working within our canteen, receive and record prison canteen stock including moving and lifting boxes, liaise with suppliers to maintain canteen stock levels, and record prisoner purchases.

Prison Special Buys: Process orders for special buy items (e.g., CDs, clothing, electronics) and manage inventory and stock control for special buys.

Prisoner Queries Management: Respond to prisoner queries submitted electronically regarding account balances, cheques, canteen orders, phone numbers, and money orders.

Prisoner Mail: Process incoming and outgoing prisoner mail in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Reception: Respond to telephone and administration office reception enquiries.

General Administration: Prepare prisoner finances for transfers and releases and maintain and record prisoner transactions and other records.

Purchasing: Order and receive goods and maintain credit card transactions and records.

What we're looking for

A current Australian driver's license, and happy to drive our company car (RAV 4).

Physically fit to lift and carry items.

Willing to work directly with groups of prisoners in our canteen and special buys areas.
