Position Context: Drummoyne Community Centre Incorporated is a not for profit Neighbourhood Centre responding to the needs of the City of Canada Bay community through programs, services, partnerships and community building activities in order to build a safe and inclusive community. DCC has identified the provision of transport as a vital factor in helping people remain connected, thus helping improve the health and social wellbeing of the community.
Purpose of Position The main purpose is to provide a safe, reliable and caring service for passengers in the Drummoyne Community Centre minibus. The BayRider Bus service provides transportation to a broad range of adult passengers who are transport disadvantaged. This position may also include driving for other programs.
Days of work: Thursdays Weekly and/or Fridays Fortnightly - you choose
Thursdays: Driving the weekly BayRider service includes picking up passengers from their homes, and delivering them to their destination, and returning them home if applicable. The driver will follow a scheduled timetable created by the Transport Officer. This will be different each week based on the passengers booking. The schedule may include several passengers on the bus at once, or single passengers at a time. It may also include delivery of DCC information to various local venues. The BayRider only travels within the City of Canada Bay Local Government Area.
Fridays: The DCC bus is available to local community organisations and retirement villages for hire. Often they wish to hire the bus and our driver. This work is primarily fortnightly. We will be hiring the bus and driver (you) from May 2025. The staff at the Retirement Village will choose a location or bus tour route (in advance) and you will be asked to take a group of passengers from the village to the destination and return. The duration is typically from 9am to 3pm to avoid peak hour traffic. Travel is typically under 50km, but can be anywhere in Sydney.
