Team Leader – Family Violence Services
Location: Mildura, Victoria
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled and passionate Team Leader to oversee Case Management and Access & Engagement teams based at their Lime Ave office. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality service delivery in alignment with program guidelines, continuous improvement principles, and best practice standards within the Family Violence sector.
The Team Leader will play a critical role in supporting case managers through supervision, case allocations, advocacy, and risk management. This includes liaising with the Orange Door to maintain seamless service delivery for clients. The role also involves facilitating referrals, performing safety audits, overseeing funding applications, and maintaining stakeholder partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate systems to support high-quality, inclusive, and flexible service delivery (intake, assessment, planning, intervention, review, closure).
- Provide leadership and guidance to case workers to deliver integrated, evidence-based, client-directed services.
- Implement effective work processes to ensure high-quality program outputs, outcomes, and KPI achievement.
- Promote person-centered, recovery-oriented practice among staff.
- Deliver tailored supervision to case managers and crisis response staff.
- Foster positive team dynamics through role modelling and mentorship.
- Support staff wellbeing and professional development, including strategies to prevent vicarious trauma.
- Work with the Program Manager – Family Violence Connection Services to address skill gaps and implement staff development strategies.
- Review caseloads and client records to ensure compliance with best practice standards and internal audits.
- Advocate and facilitate access to external services for clients.
- Ensure meticulous data collection and file management.
- Oversee and coordinate funding applications in line with guidelines.
- Build effective and collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Participate in the on-call roster as required.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and practice standards.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- In-depth understanding of:
- Engagement challenges with victim survivors and families.
- Gendered nature of family violence and its impact.
- Psychological, developmental, and social effects of family violence on victim survivors.
- Trauma and its impact on women, children, and family dynamics.
- Diverse manifestations of family violence across communities.
- The unique experience and status of First Nations communities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and significant experience in the sector.
- Demonstrated leadership experience including team performance, recruitment, coaching, and change management.
- Expertise in complex client issues including risk assessment and crisis support.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High resilience and capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Proven success in leading through change.
- Commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and capacity to learn new IT systems.
Mandatory Qualifications – Family Violence Workforce:
As per Recommendation 209 under Victoria’s Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must:
- Be EXEMPT under the policy, OR
- Hold a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent, OR
- Have minimum 5 years of relevant experience or related qualifications, OR
- Possess significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience.
Applicants entering under experience-based or culturally informed pathways must commit to obtaining a relevant qualification within specified timeframes.
Specialist Experience:
- Strong knowledge of the Mallee health and community services sector.
- Understanding of relevant family violence legislation.
Pre-employment Requirements:
Successful applicants must undergo:
- Reference checks
- National criminal history check (including international if required)
- Misconduct screening
- Working With Children Checks (VIC and NSW)
- Hold a current Driver’s License
