The Medical and Critical Care at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Hepatology) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse Consultant is an employee who is a registered nurse who:

  • Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
  • Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.

Classification may include but is not limited to:

  • Responsibility for explicit professional portfolio content and context expertise.
  • Expertise in the provision of direct care and/or support of systems and/or education and/or professional leadership.
  • Consultation and provision of professional advice.
  • Responsibility for a cohort of staff reporting to the position. and/or education and research advice.

About the Team

The Mackay Liver Clinic is a shared-care service within the Mackay Hospital & Health Service and is located within the Mackay Base Hospital. The service manages a broad spectrum of liver diseases, including Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, Chronic Liver Disease, Metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcohol related liver disease, liver cancers and other hepatobiliary conditions.

The service consists of the clinical nurse consultant, nurse practitioner, visiting hepatologist and telecare consultants. The team works in collaboration with intra- and inter-hospital multidisciplinary services, including surgeons, gastroenterologists, medical physicians and allied health professionals, to provide comprehensive and wholistic care to all patients within the service.
