Driving Excellence in Plant Operation and Infrastructure Care

About the position

The Plant Operator Multi Skilled position will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment within the Toowoomba Region. This position works as part of a multi-skilled team to complete program objectives for the maintenance and construction of Council’s infrastructure networks.

  • The base wage rate for this position is $1,236.87 gross per week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
  • $32.55 per hour.
  • This is a permanent full-time position based out of our Goombungee Depot.
  • Work a 9-day fortnight with a Rostered Day Off.

About the Team

The Construction & Maintenance North (CMN) Branch plays a crucial role in driving capital and operational works projects and across a predominantly rural road and stormwater infrastructure network. Qualifications Requirements for Success

Mandatory

  • Current WHS Certificate of Competency or VOC for ‘LG’ – Grader.
  • Current ‘HR’ Heavy Rigid Class Driver’s Licence is essential with ability and willingness to obtain a ‘HC’ Class Driver’s Licence within 12 months of commencement.
  • WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Substantial experience in operating related plant, including operating a Grader.
  • Working in Proximity to Traffic Awareness Part 1 and 2, or a willingness to obtain within 3 months of commencement.

Desirable

  • Ability to set-up, operate, and manage Total Station Robotics, GPS / Global Navigation Satellite System, or Laser System, or similar advanced technologies.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction or similar qualification.
  • Traffic Control Accreditation.
  • Traffic Management Implementation accreditation in accordance with Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
  • Safe Work Near Exposed Live Parts (SWNELP) (Ergon) training.
  • Current WHS Certificate of Competency or VOCs for ‘LB’ – Backhoe (>2L engine capacity).
  • Current WHS Certificate of Competency or VOC for ‘LR’ – Road Roller (>2L engine capacity).
  • Current WHS Certificate of Competency or VOC for ‘LS’ – Skid steer (>2L engine capacity).
