What you will be doing

Future Health 2022-2032 sets a strategic direction for NSW Health to increase meaningful partnership with consumers and embed lived expertise at every stage of the patient journey. The Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Lived Experience Survivor Partner will work collaboratively with consumers, carers, and internal and external stakeholders, including ACI Networks, Local Health Districts (LHD), Speciality Health Network (SHN) managers and clinicians, the Ministry of Health's (MoH) Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) unit, the Program Delivery Office (PDO), and other key stakeholders. This collaboration aims to facilitate the development and ongoing operation of the VAN Lived Experience Registry of consumers.

The registry approach will support participation in consultation and engagement by a wide group of people through a flexible model for PARVAN, the PDO, and ACI. People on the registry will have opportunities to participate in different projects, at different times, and in various ways that align with their interests, passions, and skill sets while accommodating their fluctuating availability. This progressive approach to lived experience partnership reflects best practices. Strengthening partnerships with consumers will help PARVAN, the PDO, and ACI identify service delivery gaps more effectively and develop safer, more accessible policies and services for individuals affected by domestic and family violence, abuse, and neglect.
