The Opportunity
We’re seeking a dedicated Barrier-Focused Yard Person to take charge of inspecting, maintaining, and managing barriers—such as plastic water-filled road barriers and Absorb M’s. This hands-on role plays a key part in ensuring all barriers are in proper working condition, thoroughly tested, and ready for deployment to our customers.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Conduct routine visual inspections of water-filled barriers to identify damage, wear, punctures, cracks, or leaks that may affect integrity.

Test barriers to confirm they hold water and function correctly.

Safely relocate barriers within the yard and assist with loading/unloading onto trucks using a forklift or by hand.

Accurately document and report any damage or defects to management within 24 hours of return.

Provide clear reports including photographs and descriptions of issues, along with corrective actions taken or recommended.

Maintain an accurate inventory of barriers, ensuring correct storage and readiness for deployment.

Perform monthly stocktakes of barrier inventory.

Maintain open communication with management regarding barrier condition and operational needs.

Support scheduling of barrier repairs based on inspection and testing outcomes.

Load and unload barriers onto trucks, utes, and trailers, ensuring all items are properly secured to prevent movement or damage during transport.

Complete customer barrier reports before dispatch, detailing inspection outcomes, existing damage, and barrier readiness.

Submit barrier reports to the appropriate department for processing and follow-up.

What You Will Bring:

Previous experience in a yard, logistics, or warehouse environment is preferred.

Physically fit with the ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.

High attention to detail, particularly when inspecting and documenting the condition of equipment.

Effective communication skills for coordinating with management and logistics teams.

Basic mechanical knowledge is advantageous.

Possession of a forklift license is preferred but not essential.

Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following established procedures.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills for reporting and documentation.

History of safe working practices.

Valid car licence.

Ability to problem solve with a positive 'can-do' attitude
