This is a 9-month fixed-term contract with AVE Technologies, based onsite at BHP Mt Arthur, with the potential for extension beyond the initial term. The role follows a consistent 4-day on, 3-day off work week, providing a balanced schedule and quality time off (did we mention that RDO's are included?!). We offer competitive hourly rates, and accommodation can be supplied if required. Successful applicants will need to hold a current Order 43 Medical or be willing and able to undertake one prior to commencement.
Your new role
Due to recent business growth, our new Auto Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced technology systems on heavy and light vehicles across multiple sites and projects throughout the Hunter Valley.
What will you do?
Install and configure advanced vehicle systems, including collision avoidance systems (CAS) across heavy and light vehicles.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain auto electrical components on heavy mining equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Utilise modern diagnostic tools for fault finding, system calibration, and performance testing of electrical systems.
Install auto electrical cabling and related systems on-site in line with safety and compliance standards.
Manage project documentation, including compliance records, commissioning plans, and handover reports—while coordinating job completion walkthroughs with Project Managers and clients.
About you
Trade Qualified Auto Electrician with proven experience working on heavy mining machinery, including Liebherr haul trucks and excavators, Hitachi excavators, and CAT wheel loaders, dozers, and graders.
Skilled in wiring harnesses, fleet management systems (FMS), machine positioning technology, and battery systems.
Strong knowledge of CAN bus systems and vehicle telemetry.
Experienced in the installation and maintenance of additional vehicle systems to enhance functionality and performance.
