Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Information Governance Officer to join a federal Government Department and support the effective management of information and records across the organisation. In this role, you will provide expert advice, support, and training to staff, manage governance content and systems, and contribute to initiatives that enhance our information lifecycle management and governance capabilities, including those supporting emerging technologies such as Machine Learning.
Key Duties:
- Provide advice, support, and training through the ICT helpdesk on information governance policies, procedures, and compliance.
- Manage and update the Information and Record Management Team's intranet pages and ICT & Data Branch's governance documentation in SharePoint.
- Contribute to the lifecycle management of electronic information within MDBA's business information systems, in line with the National Archives of Australia standards and MDBA policies.
- Provide guidance in developing and implementing capability requirements to support Machine Learning, including policy development, testing, and governance application.
- Undertake information searches and e-discovery processes as required.
- Deliver Secretariat support to Information Governance working groups.
To be successful, you will have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying Information Management policies and practices (e.g., Archives Act 1983, Records Authorities, Building Trust policy).
- Experience in managing information assets using Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams and SharePoint.
- Proven ability to manage and update SharePoint intranet content, particularly for information governance resources.
- Strong understanding of records and information legislation, and Government policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply governance frameworks for Machine Learning projects, including testing and policy creation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience providing helpdesk support related to information management and governance.
- A current Baseline Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Australian citizenship (mandatory).
