About the Role
Under the leadership of the Director of the Doctor of Medicine Program, this position will work with academic, clinical and professional staff to lead and deliver excellence in the implementation of the Doctor of Medicine program across all of the available sites. The role will also involve collaboration with the academic and clinical teaching staff to coordinate the design and delivery of the teaching and assessment to provide a comprehensive learning experience that meets the outcomes of the program and fulfills accreditation requirements.

The Doctor of Medicine Program Implementation Lead will facilitate an evidence-based approach to supporting curriculum delivery and will contribute to advancing scholarship in the field of medical education.

Some of the key position responsibilities of the Senior Lecturer will include:

  • Work collaboratively with other academic staff in the development of curriculum materials and delivery of high-quality teaching in the medical program
  • Implement quality assurance processes for all curriculum activities, including the generation of reports and working collaboratively with the Doctor of Medicine Program Evaluation Lead, to develop and enact improvement plans as required.
  • Foster and develop a scholarly approach to learning and teaching, contributing to educational research programs and facilitating an evidence-based approach to curriculum and assessment design
  • Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development, and career opportunities
  • Maintain professional knowledge relevant to teaching within their discipline through scholarship and professional development.
  • Engage in activities within a relevant external professional domain such as professional associations, conferences, and workshops, and within a wider community context at local, national, or international level.

About You
The successful candidate will have a strong teaching background (at a tertiary level) as well as a demonstrated capacity to provide leadership in coordinating and delivering medical education and training in a tertiary environment. As well as completion of a PhD or an EdD in medical science, health, education or a related field, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • Evidence of an independent and innovative contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies, including student assessment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of curriculum reviews and internal and external accreditation activities.
  • Demonstrated capacity for successful leadership of teaching teams at course and/or the program level.
  • Development of teaching materials to be used by others
  • Evidence of an ability to lead, coordinate and deliver medical or health profession education and training in a tertiary and/or health service environment.
