The role
This pivotal role is responsible for developing and maintaining health, safety, and wellbeing data, systems, and processes to inform business groups of their risks and contributes to the elimination or reduction of incidents and hazards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimise database systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and manage data pipelines by designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes across multiple platforms and data sources.
  • Source, curate, and manage multiple information sets, ensuring data integrity, implementing data quality controls, and developing strategies for data cleaning and validation.
  • Analyse, interpret, and report on data from multiple sources, identifying trends and insights to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain standard, ad hoc, and automated reports, leveraging appropriate reporting tools and recommending standardisation where applicable to improve efficiency.
  • Support WHS projects and strategic initiatives by providing performance-based data insights, reporting, and technical guidance.
  • Coordinate and facilitate consultative processes to capture, analyse, and benchmark performance against agreed targets and industry standards.
  • Manage the daily administration and upkeep of customer-facing systems, such as the incident reporting platform, ensuring reliability, data accuracy, and user accessibility while providing technical support as needed.

What you will bring to the role

  • Extensive experience in database management and data engineering, with a strong understanding of best practices in data architecture, ETL processes, and governance.
  • Proficiency with data tools such as Alteryx, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI, with the ability to design and optimise data workflows.
  • Experience working with database systems such as SQL Server and Snowflake, including writing complex queries, performance tuning, and data modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience with and in-depth knowledge of various data analysis techniques to provide actionable insights.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Tertiary qualifications in data science, data engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience in data management, analytics, or engineering.
