About the team

If you're a civil engineer or designer looking for more project ownership, a steady pipeline of meaningful work, and the satisfaction of seeing your designs built, this is your opportunity to make a difference.

As a Senior Utilities Engineer / Designer with the City of Gold Coast, you'll play a key role in delivering civil infrastructure projects that directly benefit the local community. You’ll work across road, stormwater, intersection and public realm upgrades, ensuring utility services are well coordinated and integrated from design through to construction.

About your new role

In local government, the focus is on delivering public infrastructure that works safely, efficiently, and in coordination with all services. You’ll be part of an integrated in-house team, working closely with designers, engineers, and service authorities to make sure utility services are considered, coordinated, and ready before construction begins. It’s a role with real purpose, where your work directly contributes to projects that serve the community and shape the city.

What you'll be doing:

Coordinating utility inputs and resolving service clashes across a range of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, intersections, stormwater, and public realm upgrades.

Liaising with internal design teams, project managers, consultants, and service authorities to ensure utility services are accurately considered and integrated into project planning and delivery.

Reviewing utility plans, survey data, and clash reports using tools such as Navisworks, 12d, and Civil 3D to support early identification and resolution of conflicts.

Leading utility coordination meetings and maintaining documentation such as clash registers and utility mark-up plans.

Providing advice and technical input on service authority requirements, PUP protection, and sequencing of relocations.

Supporting junior staff and contributing to continuous improvement across coordination processes and documentation standards.

Please refer to the Position Brief, via the paperclip icon, for more information about this role.

We're looking for people who have:

You're a proactive, detail-oriented civil designer or engineer who enjoys solving design challenges in a team environment. You’re looking for a role where you can build strong relationships, contribute to public outcomes, and stay involved through delivery.

What you’ll bring:

Civil engineering or design qualifications, with 6+ years of relevant experience.

Experience working on local government or public infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of utility authority requirements and PUP coordination.

Proficiency in Navisworks, 12d, Civil 3D or similar tools.
