Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The National Disability and Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking candidates to fill the APS5 National Contact Centre Support and Communications vacancy. This is a key role that contributes to creating, managing and communicating information and knowledge articles to and for the National Contact Centre.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Contribute to and draft high-level written collateral, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Assist in the development of strategic communication plans and strategies with clear, concise, and effective messaging for various audiences.
- Offer feedback and support to teams to ensure quality outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Create and review process maps, scripting, guidance material, and work instructions to support operational activities.
- Draft, format, and proofread documents using Microsoft Office Suite, ensuring they adhere to best practices and organisational standards with a focus on accessibility.
- Perform research and data collection to support the drafting of Branch communications and other documentation.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes and support organisational goals.
- Respond to enquiries and provide accurate, timely advice while adhering to guidelines and procedures.
- Assist with the scheduling, coordination, and publishing of communication content.
- Tailor written communication to effectively address a range of purposes, including broadcast communications to detailed work instructions.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
The NCC Support and Communications team plays a key role in providing best practice service delivery to NDIS participants and anyone contacting the NDIA by creating, managing and communicating information and knowledge articles to and for the NCC.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and design written communications, including procedural guidance
- Capacity to engage constructively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Strong stakeholder management.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A high-level understanding of the objectives and operation of the NDIS.
- There are no minimum Qualifications required to perform this role however at least 12 months experience working in a government department or communications role is desirable.

While this role is ideally performed from QLD - Robina, ACT - Deakin, VIC - Dandenong, VIC - Geelong, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
