The organisation brings together a diverse team of solicitors, social workers, financial counsellors, and educators to provide integrated, wraparound support for women impacted by domestic and family violence.
About the Role
The Social Work Team plays a vital role in supporting women who seek legal advice and are identified as being at risk due to domestic and family violence. They offer short-term emotional and practical assistance, including risk assessments, safety planning, brief therapeutic and crisis support, court assistance, referrals, and advocacy.
Working closely with solicitors and financial counsellors, the team also contributes to community education initiatives.
All support provided is client-directed, flexible to individual needs, and offered on a voluntary and cost-free basis - whether it's a one-time session or ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
Delivering Trauma-Informed Support to Clients:
- Provide specialised, trauma-informed social work support to women experiencing domestic violence, both in-person and over the phone, in line with company policies.
- Deliver a range of services including client intake, DV risk assessments, safety and exit planning, support with legal and Victims Assist applications, facilitated referrals, and tailored needs assessments.
- Offer case coordination for clients engaged in legal matters, working closely with company solicitors based on individual needs.
- Support clients in crisis situations, including those at immediate risk due to domestic violence or suicide.
- Collaborate with legal and non-legal team members to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and feminist-aligned team environment among staff and volunteers.
- Travel to different office locations (Annerley, Caboolture, Southport, Ipswich, Brisbane CBD) as needed.
Community Engagement, Education & Law Reform:
- Build and maintain partnerships with key organisations working with priority groups, including establishing referral networks and delivering targeted community education.
- Help design and deliver training sessions for external stakeholders and staff on topics such as domestic violence, mental health, and trauma.
- Support company's involvement in law reform and systemic advocacy efforts as required.
Direct Client Support:
- Deliver trauma-informed support via phone or in person
- Conduct DV risk assessments, safety planning, and practical support with legal processes
- Provide case coordination alongside legal staff
- Support women in crisis or at risk of harm
- Keep accurate case notes and stats for reporting
Education & Advocacy:
- Build relationships with external agencies and create referral pathways
- Deliver community education and stakeholder training on DV, trauma, and mental health
- Support law reform and advocacy work
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
- $97,000- $105,000 + super + salary sacrifice options

Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualified Social Worker with eligibility for AASW registration
- Full Australian working rights, no sponsorship available
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations, including in regional and rural areas
- National Police Clearance & Working with Children Check
