About the role:

One of the leading federal government departments is seeking dedicated Payroll Officers at APS 5 and APS 6 levels to join a team in Canberra. These roles offer flexible working arrangements with possible permanency for the right candidate.

Experience working with Aurion system desirable

Your new role – APS 5

Process salaries, superannuation, allowances, workers compensation, and leave using the Aurion system.

Provide timely and accurate support to employees on payroll and related enquiries.

Maintain privacy and integrity in handling employee information.

Assist with payroll audits by gathering and analysing data.

Support employees with the Employee Self Service Module of Aurion.

Contribute to business improvements and process enhancements.

Stay updated through ongoing professional development.

Assist the APS6, Senior People and Culture Advisor with ad hoc duties.

Your new role – APS 6

Lead and manage a small payroll team to deliver high-quality payroll services.

Develop and review policies, procedures, and personnel processes to ensure accuracy and currency.

Coordinate payroll projects to improve service quality and professional standards.

Analyse data, investigate payroll anomalies, and apply corrective actions.

Maintain accurate records in Aurion and the Record Keeping System (CM10).

Interpret APS legislation and workplace agreements, advising management and staff on employment conditions and entitlements.

Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
