About us

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. As an area within the department, Youth Justice is committed to the demonstration of the departmental values at all times; serve the community, work together, act with integrity, respect other people and make it happen.

Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.

The opportunity

The Movements Manager is responsible for the management of daily movements across the precinct, including managing and supporting a number of staffing groups. Additionally, this role will take the lead in implementing, evaluating, and managing the structured day program.

· Fixed-Term, full-time position based in Melbourne.

· YJW 4 role: $ 101,500 - $ 115,176 per year plus super.

· Effectively lead staffing groups such as the Medical Escort Officer and Daily Movements Team.

· Plan and prioritise workload to ensure the effective delivery of high quality, responsive and timely outcomes.

· Provide oversight and lead the implementation of the structured day and all daily movements across the precinct, ensuring maximum fluidity and efficiency is achieved from a dedicated escort team

To be successful in this role you will have:

· Demonstrated experience in the professional supervision and development of a team of staff including the day to day management of work organisation, resources allocation and service delivery.

· Advanced experience and knowledge of the youth justice environment, including an understanding of issues and complexities of the youth justice system.

· Using IT systems for recording and reporting data particularly with MS Excel.

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.

A current drivers’ licence is required to travel to other Youth Justice Custodial sites
