Senior Project Officer (International Centre for Future Health Systems)

  • Employment Type: Part - time (17.5 hours a week). Opportunity for full time also doing a communications role concurrently, details below.

The International Centre for Future Health Systems

The International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS) is a research, policy and advocacy centre established at the University of New South Wales that seeks to improve health systems to deliver more equitable, sustainable, and person-centred health care for all people. The Centre is hosting the newly funded National Multidisciplinary Primary Care Research, Policy and Advocacy Consortium (The Consortium).

Why this role matters

This position will play a key role within the Centre in providing high level practical and efficient project support for project teams and key stakeholders involved in the work of the Consortium and will also work to integrate elements of the work of the Consortium with the other research, policy and advocacy activities of the Centre. The role may have supervisory responsibilities with other staff.

The role entails providing project management of large collaborative grants, reporting and analytical support, developing communications about the research and its findings, building key internal and external relationships with stakeholders, and developing and consulting on key programs and projects as the work of the Consortium grows over time. The role will also provide secretariat support for all meetings of the Consortium membership and for all workshops and the annual Strategic Think Tank event of the consortium, including preparing agendas, writing minutes, and following up on actions.

Note, the centre is also currently recruiting for a Communications Lead role (job link once live) which is also 17.5 hours a week and if applicants are skilled in both areas there is an opportunity to work Full Time across both roles. If this is your preference, please indicate this in your cover letter. Please note you will need to make a separate application for both roles.

Some key skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health, or related area, with a depth of subsequent experience in the management of large research programs, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on research initiatives working with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS, Teams, Reference management tools, PM software Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Proven project and program management experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
