iCare Staffing is excited to be teaming up with Julia Gillard Community College to connect an experienced literacy teacher with a school where every day makes a difference for young people.

With a maximum capacity of 75 students (approximately 53 currently enrolled) Julia Gillard Community College is looking for a Literacy Teacher to join their team.

Julia Gillard Community College (JGCC) is a small, independent school, founded in 2024 and delivering flexible education options (including the Victorian Pathway Certificate VPC and VCE Vocational Major VCE VM) to students aged 15 - 19 years old. JGCC provides a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who may have disengaged (or are at risk of disengaging) from mainstream education and their vision is to meet young people where they are in their learning journey and help them reach their full potential.

The Literacy Teacher works as part of a multidisciplinary team (including classroom education support and youth workers) to develop and maintain a classroom learning environment which places a high emphasis on student learning and wellbeing.

Supported by an experienced, inclusive and collaborative Principal, Meg Cotter (you can check out her LinkedIn profile here: https://jgillardcc.vic.edu.au/), the successful teacher will have:

✅ A Bachelor or Diploma of Education in English Language/Literacy and a current VIT registration

✅ Demonstrated experience teaching young people who face barriers to education

✅ Computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft suite of programs and student learning platforms

✅A National Police check, International Police check (if required) and the right to work in Australia

Experience teaching VPC and/or VCE VM or VCAL is desirable but not essential.
