Silky Oaks Children's Haven provides a broad range of individual and family-focused services. The Silky Oaks Residential Program offers out-of-home care and support to children and young people who are in the care of the Department of Child Safety.
Our goal is to create a warm, caring and therapeutic environment that supports each child and young person’s development. This includes personal growth, social skills, life skills, educational needs, training and employment opportunities, identity, behaviour management, community involvement, and family relationships.
Our residential programs are located in the Wynnum/Manly, Redlands, Moorooka and Logan areas. You may be required to work at one or all of these locations.
About the role
Working in Residential Out-of-Home Care can present a diverse range of challenges, but it can also be incredibly rewarding.
We are seeking both experienced and new to sector, passionate people who want to make a difference in the lives of our vulnerable youth.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be required to provide therapeutic & supervisory care & support to children & young people placed in the care of the Queensland Government & Silky Oaks, whilst contributing to the day-to-day functioning of the residential location.
You will act as an appropriate role model and provide clear & consistent boundaries & structure whilst supporting the children & young people’s daily needs.

About you
To be considered for this role, you will require:
A minimum Certificate IV in an approved qualification (or evidence of enrolment) – or willingness to enroll in such a course.
Passion and drive for wanting to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
Capacity to work shift work - Monday to Sunday across all shifts, including days, afternoons and sleepovers.
A team orientated approach with the ability to work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders.
A valid Queensland Drivers Licence "C" Class (Opens preferred) with no restrictions.
Have Australian Citizenship or a ‘Right to Work’ in Australia.
Be willing to undergo a full Criminal History Check (LCS2)
Ability to apply for Working with Children Card (Blue Card-Paid) if not already held.
Obtain a traffic and licence history check.
