About the Role

The Research Associate will contribute to the research activities of the Applied Chemistry and Translational Biomaterials Group. Specifically, the position will be responsible for leading research initiatives, building capacity, working with industry collaborators, and generating high-quality research outputs and publications.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research, under limited supervision; and in collaboration with group members, industry and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and publish high-impact manuscripts of research outputs and manage the process of external reviews and submission for publication
  • Contribute conceptually and intellectually to new and emerging research directions and the preparation of external funding applications
  • Prepare and/or contribute to reports for submission to the University and industry partners
  • Active involvement in professional activities including, subject to the availability of funds, attendance at conferences and seminars

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor qualification and Postgraduate qualification in chemistry or another relevant discipline
  • A demonstrated record of writing, preparing and publishing high-quality peer-reviewed research articles, with evidence of impact
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, other colleagues, and external parties
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight work schedules, including effective organisational skills in prioritising to meet deadlines often with competing demands
