About the Role:
The role is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to support individuals who are blind or vision impaired. This role also involves delivering community education programs to raise profile about blindness, promote accessibility, and foster inclusive environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment & Management
Attract, recruit, and onboard volunteers
Provide training, support, and recognition
Maintain volunteer records and monitor performance and engagement
Community Education & Outreach
Deliver presentations and workshops on blindness and accessibility
Engage with schools, businesses, and community groups
Represent the organisation at events and expos
Lead awareness campaigns across various media
Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of activities and outcomes
Prepare reports and support policy development
Key Selection Criteria:
Essential:
Proactive, self-motivated individual with strong initiative.
Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or a related field.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals who are blind or vision impaired.
Desirable:
Experience working with disability or accessibility-related programs.
Knowledge of volunteer management systems.
Experience in delivering training or educational programs.
A valid driver’s license and ability to travel for outreach activities.
