About the role
The Long Term Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, optimising, and documenting future maintenance programs spanning from one to ten years. This includes developing processes, systems, and procedures to support resource, inventory, fleet and access requirements within the CMMS system. The role involves asset lifecycle planning, budgeting, and supply chain management, ensuring alignment with the Corridor-Based Maintenance Strategy. A key focus is integrating maintenance, renewal, and project scopes into a coordinated service disruption program to minimize impact on train operations. The planner also develops and maintains long-term planning registers, disruptive access plans, and annual work programs while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This role provides technical and system support for the CMMS, ensuring accurate scheduling, work order management, and optimisation of maintenance tasks. The planner assists in maintaining master data, asset hierarchies, and maintenance schedule tasks to enhance efficiency and reliability. Additionally, they collaborate with stakeholders to identify system improvements, advocate for enhancements, and provide technical guidance on asset maintenance compliance. The role also includes training personnel in CMMS utilisation and offering specialised maintenance advice in consultation with relevant branches.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Extensive experience in long- and short-term maintenance planning, scheduling, and contract supervision. Strong leadership skills to facilitate planning meetings, engage stakeholders, and foster a positive and safe workplace culture.
Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring adherence to PTA’s safety policies, legislation, and rail Safeworking codes of practice.
Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills with experience liaising with stakeholders. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities to support decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, apply risk management, and use advanced computer skills, including MS Office, scheduling software (Primavera P6/MS Project), Power BI, CMMS, and other in-house programs.
