About this Program
The Mental Health Alternative Workforce (Wellbeing Workers) work alongside clinicians and case managers to complement and enhance the services provided by Peninsula Health Staff in Acute Mental Health and Community Mental Health Teams. Wellbeing Workers provide non-clinical, recovery-focused, and therapeutic support, promoting hope, connection, and empowerment for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
About the Opportunity
Wellbeing Workers support clients in identifying and working towards their recovery goals, fostering optimism and motivation for change to improve overall quality of life. They take a strengths-based, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed approach, ensuring support is person-centered, meaningful, and tailored to each individual's needs.
This role will be based within the Crisis Assessment & Treatment Team (CATT), a multidisciplinary community-based service providing intensive, short-term support to individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. You will offer non-clinical psychosocial support, assisting consumers in their recovery journey through practical and emotional support, early discharge planning, and connection to essential community resources. CATT delivers holistic, face-to-face assessments and home treatment across Frankston, Mornington, and Rosebud, ensuring accessible, person-centred care. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a crisis setting, supporting individuals and their families with compassionate, recovery-focused care.

- Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in working in a support role for people with mental health issues, generally a Certificate IV qualification or above
- Ability to relate well to clients and staff

About Wellways
Wellways Australia Limited is a leading not-for-profit mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Tasmania. Our services span mental health, disability and community care, and reach thousands of people each year.
We work with a diverse range of people living with mental health issues or various disabilities, and their families, friends and carers, to bring about positive change and build good lives in their communities. This can include creating a home, securing a job and building meaningful relationships.
Our mental health, disability and rehabilitation services bring together evidence from research with an understanding of people’s lived experience—what works for them. Our mental health workforce includes clinicians, nurses, community support workers and ‘peers’—those who have a lived experience of mental illness and recovery. Together, they create an environment that focuses on hope rather than illness.
We work in partnership with people and their families to identify their own needs and goals and support them to attain a great life in the community. Our partnerships extend to clinicians, GPs, hospitals, community health organisations and government, ensuring that our services and programs reach people in the communities in which they live.
