About Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation

Maari Ma Health is an Aboriginal community-controlled regional health service that has been providing a quality service to the Aboriginal people of far western New South Wales for more than 20 years and employs over 140 people within the region.

About the role

The Maari Ma Health dental program was established in 2006, focussing on child oral health through the employment of a full time Dental Therapist and trainee Dental Assistants. The program is now providing dental services to adults through the establishment in 2023 of a monthly Visiting Dentist program.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Oral Health, this opportunity includes key responsibilities such as: Working collaboratively with the Public Health Dental Advisor and Maari Ma dental team to provide dental services primarily focussed on adult dental care.

These services will include appropriate relief of pain, restorative care and preventive treatments and other treatments necessary for oral health improvement.

Maintaining accurate patient information records according to Maari Ma policies and plans, as amended from time to time.

Complying with such NSW Ministry of Health Policy Directives that provide standards and regulations for health care in NSW, as amended from time to time.

Benefits

$1100 daily rate on a contractor basis, payable on presentation of tax invoice.

Working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm only, no shift weekend or on call.

Skills and experience

Ability to work with Aboriginal staff and communities in a way that fosters mutual respect.

Demonstrated understanding / experience of primary health care approach to oral health.

Ability to communicate with and work effectively with local communities, to manage high needs clients and those with multiple health conditions.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Computing skills relevant to the position and competent in the use of information and communication.
