Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, focusing on bulk earthworks, roading, drainage, and service installations.

A pro-active, can-do attitude and the ability to actively seek out available tenders.

Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.

Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.

Identify and evaluate potential risks and opportunities associated with project costs.

Maintain and update a database of resources and pricing information.

Prepare and present detailed bid proposals and tender submissions.

Monitor and review project costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with estimates.

Assist in the negotiation of contracts and procurement of materials and subcontractors.

Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in civil construction estimating.

Qualifications and Key Attributes:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or relevant experience in estimating.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction estimating, with a focus on bulk earthworks, roading, drainage, and service installations.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g. Expert Estimation, Candy, or similar).

Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
