The ACT Education Directorate is seeking passionate and dedicated Physical Education, Health and Outdoor Education Secondary Teachers for permanent and contract positions in high schools and colleges across Canberra. In ACT public schools, you can use your teaching expertise in a range of secondary settings, including years 7 to 10 high schools, larger preschool to year 10 schools and in colleges teaching years 11 and 12.

About you:

You hold a recognised tertiary teaching qualification.

Have experience teaching secondary year levels and applying the Australian Curriculum.

Are passionate about delivering engaging physical education and outdoor education programs and fostering student wellbeing.

Have a student-centred approach to learning and can teach across a broad range of ages and abilities.

Have developed classroom management skills and dedicated to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Foster positive relationships with students, staff and the broader school community.

Eligibility requirements:

To apply and work as a teacher in an ACT public school, you must have:

A recognised four-year full-time tertiary teaching qualification. Applicants with qualifications gained outside of Australia should complete a skills assessment by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) to confirm qualification requirements and English language proficiency to teach in Australian schools. Detailed information is available from the AITSL website.

ACT Teacher Registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) or eligibility to apply for it. Teachers holding registration in another Australian state or territory or New Zealand are eligible for mutual recognition.

Valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WwVP) registration or eligibility to apply for it.

Approved working in Australia status as either an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid working visa. Business sponsorship is available and assessed on an individual basis. Email [email protected] to find out more.

Evidence of your teacher registration or, if currently studying, evidence of your enrolment in an accredited initial teacher education course.

Evidence of your ACT WwVP registration or Australian state or territory equivalent.
