The Company:
A nationally recognised planning consultancy with a strong presence in Sydney. Specialising in delivering strategic and statutory planning services across a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and government. This highly successful team is known for its technical excellence, collaborative approach, and dedication to their clients.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Urban Planner / Town Planner to join our clients Sydney team. This is a key leadership role ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-paced consultancy environment. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior staff, and provide strategic planning advice to clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage complex development applications, and rezoning projects
Provide high-level advice on NSW planning legislation, regulations, and policy frameworks
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government authorities, and community stakeholders
Undertake detailed site assessments and contribute to master planning and urban design strategies
Mentor and support junior planners and contribute to team development
Represent the consultancy in stakeholder meetings, public forums, and industry events
Ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget
About You:
Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or a related discipline
Minimum of 8 years' experience in urban/town planning, preferably in a consultancy environment or mix of public & private sector
In-depth knowledge of the NSW planning system and relevant legislation
Strong track record of managing complex planning projects from inception to approval
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities
Proven ability to build client relationships
Membership or eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) is highly regarded
