The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Examinations Branch in the VCE Examinations Unit for a fixed term full-time position.
- Salary: $95,102 - $107,905 (Plus Superannuation of 11.5%)
- Fixed term till 1 May 2026
- Two positions available
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions maybe available)
- Usual work location: East Melbourne
Role purpose
Senior Editor - The Senior Editor will be part of a high-functioning team that has strict security and confidentiality requirements. The main components of the role include but are not limited to:
- effective editing and proofreading of VCE examination materials to publication standard
- ensuring the application of VCAA editorial and style guidelines to VCE examination materials
- shared responsibility for updating the VCE Examinations Style Guide and maintaining high editorial standards
- provision of authoritative advice to VCAA personnel and examination developers on appropriate examination style and editorial issues
- ensuring project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues
- understanding business needs to ensure editorial processes are designed to enhance the quality of VCE examinations
- ensuring crosschecks are carried out between related publications
- demonstrating exceptional attention to detail.
About the unit
The VCE Examinations unit develops and produces all VCE written examinations, including those for the Northern Hemisphere Timetable. The unit produces alternative format examinations, examination specifications, sample examination materials and examination reports.

Experience and qualifications
Significant experience in editing content for print.
