ABBA Engineering is seeking skilled Pump Mechanics to join our rapidly expanding team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building, maintaining, and repairing pump systems to support dewatering solutions for our mining clients.

With over 20 years of experience in the Goldfields region, ABBA Engineering specializes in shutdown maintenance, onsite fabrication, dewatering services, and major project solutions for the construction and mining industries.

This full-time, residential position is perfect for local mechanics in Kalgoorlie looking to advance their careers while enjoying a Monday to Friday schedule with minimal commuting (occasional short trips to site). If you’re based elsewhere in Australia and willing to relocate, we offer a relocation package valued up to $5,000.

The Role

As a Pump Mechanic, you will be responsible for building, servicing, maintaining, and repairing pump systems both onsite and in the workshop. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, hydraulic knowledge, and troubleshooting skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all pumping systems.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pump systems.

Conduct necessary in-pit inspections of dewatering equipment.

Install, maintain, and repair dewatering pipework and systems.

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on dewatering pumps, hoses, and related equipment.

Perform on-site repairs of pumping systems, diagnosing faults and implementing solutions.

Build new pumping assets for hire and rebuild old pumps to extend asset life.

Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in pumps, motors, engines and associated components.

Collaborate within the maintenance team to identify and implement equipment upgrades or improvements.

Perform laser alignment of pump packages.

Perform regular testing and calibration of pumps to meet operational requirements.

Conduct operational testing (commissioning) of pump systems.

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols during all work assignments.

Assist the Supervisor in identifying and implementing improvement initiatives that create value to the business from a Dewatering maintenance perspective.

Ensure area tooling and equipment required for water assets works are in working condition according to the manufacturer's requirements and tested to the site requirements.

Assembly and installation of mechanical services plant, air handling and conditioning equipment and small-bore systems.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Qualifications & Experience

Technical trade qualification in mechanical engineering

2-5 years of experience in mechanical work, preferably in pump or engine systems

Australia C class driver’s license.

Skills & Attributes

Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding expertise

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols

Licenses & Certifications (Desirable but Not Essential)

MR/HR Rigid Driver’s License

High-Risk Work License (LF, WP, CN, DG)

Construction Industry OHS White Card

Pre-Employment Requirements

National Police Clearance

Pre-employment medical & drug/alcohol screening
