We are excited to announce the opening of our new Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service in Caboolture, designed to support young people aged 16 to 21 in transitioning from acute mental health care to community living, or preventing further hospital admissions. In a supportive, homelike environment with 24-hour staff access, the service helps young people achieve their recovery goals, strengthen relationships, develop social connections, and build independence. Support includes personalised one-on-one support, shared programs, workshops, and group activities tailored to each client’s recovery plan.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Engagement Worker for a Permanent, part-time (19 hours per week) opportunity at our new Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS) in Caboolture. In this role, you will advocate and work collaboratively with a team to enable the best outcomes for clients, ensuring that families and carers are supported and included in the services delivery. You will provide information, offer meaningful referrals to external providers and work closely with clinical partners to ensure an integrated, individualised service response.

This role also provide practice leadership, guiding staff in delivering psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery programs, and support services in line with Mind’s Recovery-Oriented Practice and values.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to young clients by developing individual recovery plans, enhancing daily living skills, and fostering independence.
  • Deliver family engagement work by supporting families and carers, providing education, facilitating connections, and ensuring their inclusion in service planning.
  • Guide and mentor Community Mental Health Practitioners through training and professional development workshops, fostering a high-performing team environment.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver group programs to help young people build skills, focus on recovery, and transition back to the community.
  • Collaborate with local service providers to connect young people with mental health, physical health, education, employment, housing, and social connections.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Expertise in family engagement work and co-design approaches.
  • Experience supporting people with mental health challenges and complex needs, with the ability to coach and develop a team to achieve high-quality service outcomes.
  • Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases or able to obtain vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B or other diseases as required by our Partnership with QLD Health.
