SALCAN Process Technology is seeking an E& I Technician &/or HA Electrician to join our Technical Services team. The ideal candidate will be a proven and talented E&I Tech or HA Electrician with significant industrial trade experience.

SALCAN services a wide range of clientele throughout the Brisbane region as well as regional QLD and interstate. Much of our project and service work incorporates instrumentation and hazardous area applications, so qualifications and skills in these areas will be highly regarded.

Working with SALCAN, you will have access to a unique pipeline of interesting project work as well as industrial installation, maintenance, calibration, fault finding and repair work. A key differentiator of SALCAN is our talented and supportive engineering team. You will be fully supported with design capability, control system expertise and technical guidance as required.

The ideal candidates will have significant experience in industrial electrical environments and a very strong safety and quality focus.

Your duties will include:

  • Installation, inspection, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical equipment, instruments and automation equipment.
  • Calibrating, testing, inspecting, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining electronic devices such as PLCs, transmitters, sensors, etc
  • Assisting in the design, engineering and procurement of electrical equipment and instrumentation systems.
  • Coordination of projects with management, contractors, and utilities.
  • Cable containment installation - cable ladder, tray and conduit.
  • Cable installation and termination.
  • Mobile height access - EWP, Scissorlift.
  • Panel construction - LV & ELV panel building.
  • Participation and contribution to our continual improvement process in safety and quality.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • High degree of focus on your own safety, as well as that of your fellow workers, our clients and the public.
  • Accurate and diligent adherence to SALCAN policy, procedures and instructions.
  • Strong work ethic.

To succeed in this role you must have:

  • Current Electrical Licence
  • Construction industry induction card. White card or blue card.
  • Current full manual driver’s licence. Competent and confident driver.
  • HA Install, maintain and inspect competencies
  • Experience working in industrial environments.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams, pneumatic diagrams and P&IDs.
  • Electrical panel building experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power / battery tools
  • Sound understanding of, and commitment to use of PPE and safety management systems.
  • Work at heights, EWP and scissorlift tickets.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude.
  • A commitment to being punctual, responsible, reliable, respectful & safe.
  • Your own hand tools.
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Non essential but desirable skills are:

  • Forklift ticket.
  • Confined space entry ticket.
  • Gas testing competency.
  • Experience with trailer towing.
  • Understanding of electronic componentry.
  • CPR/LVR training.
  • First aid training.
  • Experience in fuel terminal / petrochemical environments.
  • Experience in the gas / mining sectors.
