Specialist Oncology Nurse – Early Breast Cancer
Salary range $105,000-$115,000 per annum, pro rata (dependent on experience) plus super and not for profit salary packaging
Breast Cancer Research Centre WA (BCRC-WA), is comprehensive breast cancer center offering patients access to specialist doctors, nurses, oncologists, surgeons , phycologists and genetic counselling. BCRC-WA is one of the most highly regarded breast cancer clinical trials unit in Australia and is located in newly furbished offices at Hollywood Private Hospital.
The role:
The role of the Early Breast Care Nurse is to support patients and their carers/families following the initial diagnosis of breast cancer, including assessing and managing symptoms of the disease and treatment side effects, promoting selfcare and enhancing self-efficacy through guidance, education and the facilitation of a multidisciplinary approach to the individual patient’s care and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:
· Educate and support patients who have just been diagnosed with breast cancer.
· Conduct patient assessments and provide pre/post-procedure care.
· Foster a culture of excellence in patient care through collaboration and compassion.
· Maintain accurate patient records and offer emotional support to patients and families.
What we need from you:
· AHPRA registration and demonstrated experience in oncology nursing.
· Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological impact of a breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and management
· Experience in people management
· Interpersonal skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Organisation skills
· Ability to work independently
· A warm and positive attitude
· A genuine passion to care for people diagnosed with breast cancer and their families
· An ability to think and problem solve in a creative and innovative manner
· Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information including ability to deal with emotionally challenging discussions
· Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, oncologists, psychologists and clinical trials.
Desirable:
Successfully completed Breast Care Nurse accreditation program or oncology postgraduate qualification
Experience in facilitating cancer support programs
Experience in developing power-point presentations and public speaking
