About the Role
The Newcomers Settlement & Integration (NSI) Shared Services team lead a variety of organisational wide projects to improve client experience and outcomes, build the capacity of community and drive practice improvement & efficiencies.
The purpose of this role is to lead collaborative engagements with community, internal programs and business support units to ensure the operational aspects of new community & sector capacity building initiatives run smoothly to achieve objectives. Supporting programs to design new initiatives to engage with the clients and communities they work with to address gaps and increase impact.
Another key aspect of this role is supporting SSI staff via the development of practice guidance and learning opportunities, ensuring the way SSI engages with community is based on evidence and best practice principles.
This role will take a lead on developing professional standard resources for clients, community and the sector which have the potential to be packaged. You will be supporting a range of projects meet their objectives of capacity building whilst leveraging potential commercialisation opportunities.
This position will be a part-time contract position until end of June 2026, with the potential to extend.

About You
Supporting the overall strategic goals of the Service Delivery Impact Hub and working closely with the Community Impact Manager, you will lead operations of new initiative development and implementation. You will play a key role in leading resource development for clients, community and sector capacity building.
Your success will lie in development of fit for purpose professional resources and increase in number of SSI staff engaging with community and the quality of engagement improved to progress initiatives and increase partnerships. You will be instrumental in establishing new initiatives in collaboration with service delivery and then handed over to program staff.
You will be a champion in shaping and supporting a respectful, non-judgemental, inclusive culture that promotes and upholds human rights and maintains an environment of trust, transparency, and accountability.
Essential Criteria:
- Ability to plan and execute projects which deliver successful client or community outcomes
- Ability to apply community engagement & development related theoretical frameworks in practice, in particular demonstrating culturally responsive & trauma informed approaches
- Strong written skills demonstrated via experience in learning material development, report writing, procedure development
- Demonstrated curiosity to explore, learn and develop self and others
- Collaborative working style to bring expertise together to drive results
- Demonstrated skills in professional quality resource development for staff and community audiences
- Strong facilitation skills of both group training and 1:1 coaching
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to navigate sensitive & complex issues and/or relationships
- Strong foundation of practice in one of SSI’s key delivery areas: migrant, refugee, disability, employment, health or out of home care
- Pre-established positive relationships with diaspora and/or identity communities (e.g. Women, PWD) and community sector actors which can be leveraged for collaborative opportunities would be highly regarded
- Systems & Microsoft programs savvy. Knowledge of project management oversight tools such as Trello or MS Planner highly desirable.
- Strong data mindset to monitor, evaluate and gain insights which will inform continuous improvement
- Bachelor of Social Work, Community Development or similar
- Ability to travel between SSI’s Sydney offices and occasional interstate travel approximately once a month, as well as attending out of business hours events twice a month.
