- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $145,378 to $168,130 + super
The Water Group is currently seeking to appoint a Manager Workforce Futures to lead a small team developing and implementing actions to address skills and workforce issues in collaboration with the urban water sector and training Industry within regional NSW.
The team is part of the Town Water Risk Reduction Program, which is continuing to prioritise improvements in skills, training and workforce as a key pathway to reducing water sector risk. The team focuses on improving operator competency and vocational training, addressing workforce challenges, and improving opportunities for First Nations people in water operations.
About You
The role leads the Workforce Futures team seeking to address skills and workforce issues in the NSW local water utility sector.
The role involves significant stakeholder engagement to further develop, implement, monitor, and assess the effectiveness of workforce initiatives over time. The role will also coordinate within the department, representing skills, training, and workforce issues in broader policy and reform work.
The role guides the development of resources, including reports, training materials, and sector surveys, to inform future implementation challenges and track progress.
In this role you will:
- Lead a team to deliver a range of project objectives, given limited resources, in a changing environment with tight deadlines, and the need to identify interdependencies and balance competing demands and priorities.
- Embed effective project management and governance arrangements to ensure that project outputs are delivered on time, within budget, and address stakeholder expectations.
- Manage external stakeholder engagement with varying and often competing expectations, viewpoints and interests including managing relationships within Water and other state agencies, ensuring alignment within agreed timeframes and given varying expectations, viewpoints and interests whilst balancing interdependencies between state and federal water management planning.
- Provide leadership in the broader water and training sectors to find collaborative solutions to skills and workforce issues
Key Knowledge & Experience
- Extensive knowledge of the skills, training and workforce challenges impacting NSW local water utility service delivery.
- Experience in engaging with local water utility sector stakeholders on policy, reform and program delivery.
- Experience leading program delivery within tight time frames and with limited budget.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in policy, science, engineering, education, or other relevant discipline and/or experience in implementing skills and training and workforce development initiatives.
- NSW Driver’s license.
- Overnight travel as required.
